Climate Break: Radio Clips, Podcasts, and Video

Project Description:
Climate Break is a 90 second “bite-sized” audio clip featuring timely climate interviews with compelling scientists, innovators, organizers, and leaders offering climate solutions and other examples of progress on climate change. The clips are produced primarily by students in conjunction with the Center for Law, Energy, and Environment (CLEE) at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and are posted on the Climate Break website, social media, and podcast services, as well as released to radio stations, both in 90-second versions and in more extended forms. Climate Break has hired over a dozen students, produced over 50 segments, built out our website, and conducted initial outreach to expand the network. Now we seek to apply lessons learned, add short video clips, and launch an environmental justice “climate justice” series with approximately 35 percent of the audio and video clips, while retaining the primarily student-run structure
Project Goals:
The goal of Climate Break is to educate audiences across diverse communities about climate solutions, including actions that they can employ, leading to heightened awareness of and increased action that reduce emissions, as well as potentially increased motivation to support climate action policies in general. Climate Break highlights proven, practical solutions that have yet to achieve widespread deployment, new innovations, challenges faced by people who want to take action, and unexpected discoveries, all in an entertaining and bite-sized presentation. As we expand, we will focus on solutions and progress in underserved communities, actions promoting climate equity, and leaders and innovators of color, especially via our new video content.
