Project Description: The UC Berkeley Energy Office, WattTime, and CITRIS will collaborate to pilot a new method of reducing the carbon emissions due to electricity use by neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs).

Project Goals: 

  1. Install hardware to monitor and control the electricity usage of neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs) owned by the UC Berkeley Energy Office.
  2. Reduce the carbon footprint of the electricity used by NEV charging by shifting charging to cleaner times using WattTime software.
  3. Track and report carbon emission reductions over time.
  4. Demonstrate the feasibility of a student-founded, research-driven nonprofit.
