Project Description: The Wildlife Society at Berkeley is a student organization created to provide students at UC Berkeley with a community of wildlife enthusiasts. All students are invited to engage in events for professional development, community engagement, volunteer opportunities, and education. The Wildlife Society at Berkeley will serve as a campus branch of The Wildlife Society, a global network of wildlife professionals, to support student involvement in the wildlife field. Initiatives will provide support for students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, to develop the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the wildlife and conservation fields. On campus, students will engage with peers, graduate students, and professors to share interests and promote collaboration for campaigns, projects, mentorship, and research. Periodic meetings will provide a space for interested individuals to conversate with peers, learn about relevant research and opportunities, engage in campaigns, and receive advice from alumni and professionals. The Wildlife Society at Berkeley will be a coalition of leaders to increase accessibility, representation, and campus awareness of the wildlife and conservation fields.

Goals of Project:

  1. Connect students to resources and opportunities for professional development in the wildlife and conservation field
  2. Increase accessibility and visibility of individuals from underrepresented backgrounds in the wildlife and conservation field
  3. Provide an avenue for undergraduate students, graduate students, professors, and community leaders to engage in wildlife and conservation initiatives
