Tending the Oaks: Community Learning for a Resilient Landscape

Project Description

The project will provide nature-based, experiential learning opportunities to K–12 students in lower socioeconomic status neighborhoods, assist in training UC Berkeley students in community engagement and outreach efforts relating to land stewardship and sustainability, and, lastly, help support ongoing oak regeneration efforts in a savannah woodland habitat. Sustainability in Energy and Business Speaker Series

Restoring Creek of UC Berkeley

Project Description

The Office of Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) oversees environmental programs, including water quality, watershed protection, and the Strawberry Creek Restoration Program (SCRP). For over a decade, EH&S staff, SCRP student interns, and volunteers have collaborated to protect natural resources on campus.

Project Description

The Eco Lobbying Day will provide up to 30 passionate students with the opportunity to travel to Sacramento and advocate for environmental issues at the State Capitol, including but not limited to environmental justice, renewable energy, water, and land use. Composting at Blake Garden

Project Description

ASUC Sustainable Campus Food System Designathon

Project Description

This designathon aims to empower students to share their voices on decisions about the campus food system, because it should be catered to their needs and values. The Pour Out Pepsi campaign pressures the UC Berkeley administration to end the exclusive pouring rights contract with PepsiCo due to its unsustainable and inequitable practices. Solar Powering Cal

Project Description

Solar Powering Cal will ensure student engagement in the campus efforts to install solar on selected campus buildings and will make TGIF a key partner in solar as new reality at UC Berkeley. TGIF will also play a role in the larger regional effort to bring over 100 solar PV installations to public agency sites around the bay area.
