Compost Project for Native & Indigenous Garden

Project Description

The Indigenous Community Learning Garden (ICLG) highly values interacting with land in a sustainable and reciprocal manner. Cultivation of Vertically-Farmed Microalgae for Biofuel Production

Project Description

VFB is seeking funds to create a sustainable biofuel from microalgae. Their goal is to create a model for growing renewable fuels with low carbon impacts and to eventually generate algae for Berkeley research labs and support future research into sustainably grown algae.

Zero Waste Reusables Advancement Research Project

Project Description

This gives undergraduates at UC Berkeley opportunities to have real experience in the field and to gain a deeper knowledge of the importance of zero waste on campus and in the real world. Community-engaged engineering: a partnership with the AB 617 community in Stockton

Project Description

We request $45,975 to hire student interns to sustain environmental justice work being done by Berkeley engineering students with the Stockton AB 617 community to improve local air quality and address climate change. The AB 617 community in Southwest Stockton, CA ranks in the top 5% of the most disadvantaged communities in California. VLSB Pollinator Garden

The Department of Integrative Biology and Herbicide-Free Berkeley seeks to restore previously established pollinator gardens near VLSB. This project will allow for the study of anthropod presence within two distinct plots throughout the restoration process, and will expend most of its funds on the hiring of work-study interns to restore and monitor the garden.

Deployment of Reusables on Campus

Project Description

Cal Zero Waste plans to launch a partnership with FoodWare, a TGIF funded project, to implement a new dishwasher on campus and increase the amount of reusable takeout ware on campus and restaurants. Through FoodWare, the UC Berkeley community will be able to purchase their meals in reusable materials, track CO2 emissions avoided, and the amount of single-use containers saved, which will improve the overall impact of the campus community.
