Goals:

Improve on-site composting of garden waste and waste generated at the local pantry by installing an aerated static composting system.

Produce biologically rich compost for the garden community.

Reduce organic waste from ending up in the landfill.

Share compost use and composting education with the garden community.

Tending the Oaks: Community Learning for a Resilient Landscape

Project Description

The project will provide nature-based, experiential learning opportunities to K–12 students in lower socioeconomic status neighborhoods, assist in training UC Berkeley students in community engagement and outreach efforts relating to land stewardship and sustainability, and, lastly, help support ongoing oak regeneration efforts in a savannah woodland habitat. These goals will be mainly implemented during the spring semester of 2026.

Self-Healing Sustainable Concrete using Saturated Recycled Aggregates

Project Description

b) The goal of the project is to develop recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) that have a high self-healing capacity while retaining mechanical properties for implementation in construction projects in order to reduce carbon emissions and material waste. Once we have an RCA that satisfies parameters we will develop replicable and cost effective procedures that can be used in industry.

Reviving Native Habitats Through Student Mentorship Project
